Mole Valley Farmers Group

Over the last few years it has become increasingly difficult to obtain organic protein feeds to compliment livestock diets. Currently high levels of proteins are being imported from ever greater distances. This must be an unsustainable position and in line with organic principles it is important that we should use as much feed as possible from the UK. At present due to unreliable yields there is very little combinable organic proteins grown in the UK.

This group is made up of a number of farmers who are interested in developing blueprints for successfully and profitably growing crops to harvest for animal feed.

Group Topic

Developing new feed crops for livestock

Farmers are always looking for feeds that have better nutrition and productivity. Finding novel feed sources that keep costs and waste down whilst improving efficiency and sustainable production is an important challenge for the livestock industry.
